IN LATE FEBRUARY AND IN MARCH 1945, CONTROL OF CERVANTES CHANGED HANDS THREE TIMES BETWEEN THE ASSAULTING ELEMENTS OF THE 121ST BATTLE INFANTRY AND THE PROVISIONAL BATTALION, USAPIF,NL, AND THE JAPANESE FORCES WHEN FINALLY LIBERATED 15 JUNE 1945 FOLLOWING THE CAPTURE OF BESANG PASS, CERVANTES WAS CONVERTED INTO AN ARMY SUPPLY POINT AND PLAYED A VITAL ROLE IN THE FINAL CAMPAIGN OF THE SAFIP,NL,\u00a0TO DESTROY\u00a0THE JAPANESE IMPERIAL FORCES IN THE NORTH BENGUET- IFUGAO<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"registry_category":[4457],"level_status":[4424],"labels":[5183,4578,4423,4549,4455,4456,5313],"class_list":["post-163807","historical-sites","type-historical-sites","status-publish","hentry","registry_category-sites-events","level_status-level-ii","labels-5183","labels-ilocos-sur","labels-level-ii","labels-region-i","labels-site","labels-sites-events","labels-the-battle-and-liberation-of-cervantes","no-margin"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
