MARCELA MARINO AGONCILLO, WIFE OF THE FIRST FILIPINO DIPLOMAT, FELIPE AGONCILLO, WITH THE HELP OF HER DAUGHTER LORENZA AND MRS. DELFINA HERBOSA NATIVIDAD, NIECE OF DR. JOSE RIZAL. THE FLAG&#8217;S DESIGN WAS CONCEIVED BY GEN. EMILIO AGUINALDO, PRESIDENT OF THE REVOLUTIONARY GOVERNMENT OF THE PHILIPPINES AND WAS MADE WITHIN FIVE DAYS BEFORE HE BOARDED THE AMERICAN DISPATCH BOAT, MCCULLOCH ON MAY 17, 1898 ENROUTE TO THE PHILIPPINES. FIRST HOISTED IN THE BATTLE OF ALAPAN ON MAY 28, 1898 AND UNFURLED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN KAWIT, CAVITE DURING THE PROCLAMATION OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE ON JUNE 12, 1898.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">THIS HISTORICAL MARKER IS INSTALLED BY THE GRATEFUL FILIPINO NATION ON THE OCCASSION OF THE CENTENARIES OF THE SEWING OF THE PHILIPPINE FLAG AND THE DECLARATION OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE ON JUNE 12, 1898.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"registry_category":[4457],"level_status":[4424],"labels":[4597,4996,4423,4997,4455,4456,4998],"class_list":["post-163561","historical-sites","type-historical-sites","status-publish","hentry","registry_category-sites-events","level_status-level-ii","labels-4597","labels-china","labels-level-ii","labels-marcela-agoncillo","labels-site","labels-sites-events","labels-the-philippine-national-flag","no-margin"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
