BEING THE NEAREST TO THE RESIDENCES OF THE HIGHEST CIVIL AND ECCLESIASTICAL AUTHORITIES, THIS GATE WAS USED PRINCIPALLY BY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE ARCHBISHOP OF MANILA. MAJOR MANUEL L.
