BASTION SAN DIEGO

THIS BASTION WAS COMPLETED BY GOVERNOR-GENERAL DIEGO FAJARDO IN 1644. BEING NEAR THE AMMUNITION FOUNDRY, IT WAS CALLED ALSO BASTION OF THE FUNDICION. THE BRITISH ENTERED THE CITY OF MANILA IN 1762 BY REACHING THESE WALLS AND CAPTURING THIS BASTION.

The National Registry of Historic Sites and Structures is the NHCP’s official record historic sites and structures throughout the Philippines. Under Republic Act No. 10086, the Registry covers historic sites and structures documented by the NHCP, while Section 20 mandates the Historic Sites and Structures Documentation Center (HSSDC) to undertake their survey, identification, and documentation, and to maintain the National Registry.

The Registry serves as a public reference for information on places recognized for their significance to Philippine history and heritage.
